I have a love/hate relationship with school uniforms. I LOVE the fact that they take the thought out of what to put out for the kids to wear and removes any potential for arguments over how unreasonable I am not to let them wear their bikini’s over their Elsa costumes for Maths. But I hate how I am on constant “wash’ patrol……..
“Step AWAY from the yoghurt tube, Offspring!! Drop it and do not attempt to pick it back up until that uniform is off you & you have those trakkies on!!!!!!” This is me on a good day.
Yes that’s me there on the right….. am I alone? Nah, didn’t think so!! Image from Pinterest.
Our uniforms are bobbled, worn, restitched, lost (and found), too big in parts, too small in parts and in constant need of an good rub with an iron!! But there is one thing I hate more than all of that.
What I hear you ponder?
Having to buy new kit at the start of the summer term because the old stuff has given up & gone to uniform heaven in the sky is an EPIC fail in my books.
So you understand my scepticism here???
Marks & Spencer was a port of call for uniform shopping this past 2 years. Obviously some stuff had to be bought from the school but some of the generic bits allow you more flexibility, and what’s more? You can buy them online so no in and out dragging the madding crowd with you.
Anyone who knows me will know that I love online shopping the exact same amount that I hate ironing! In so far as that I have steadfastly refused to buy certain items of clothing for myself throughout the years if they needed to be ironed. I literally rule stuff out on that basis alone!
This is where non-Iron shirts came to my rescue. I swear by them – once you hang them on a hanger straight out of the machine and leave to dry they are pristine!

In 2 years of school going childers…..I have NEVER IRONED A SHIRT. The 4 shirts I bought in September have done me right through to the following summer.
I have also found myself lusting over a pair of harem joggers from the new LonDunn range. A lot of this new range is unisex…….however I just want it to be adult sizes!
You can see these and the rest of the range here.
